RCIA stands for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and is a journey for all individuals 17 years and older. It is a journey that takes about 1 year. All participants are accompanied by a “fellow-traveler” known as sponsors. There is nothing binding about the journey and any person may step away at any time. However, it is an informative programme and whether a candidate decides to become Catholic or not the experience is of great interest to anyone who wants to know more about the Catholic Church. The course is therefore also available to existing Catholics who want to brush up on their Faith.
