Edge : Middle School Catechism : Grades 5-7
The World of the pre-adolescent is more stressful, complicated and dangerous than the one in which we, their parents grew up in.
Today the media exposes them at an early age to inappropriate and explicit images and language, while drugs and alcohol are freely available.
These youngsters are both vulnerable and gullible, they are in the process of being transformed from child to adult. They are on the edge!
The Church can guide them through these challenging times in their lives and it is for this reason a ministry has been developed to deal exclusively with the needs of the “middle youth” (grade 5; 6 and 7).
The Edge, is a Radical New Catholic Centred Youth Ministry designed to meet their educational, spiritual, emotional and social needs and forms part of the Church’s mission to spread the gospel message of Jesus Christ.
It is a dynamic process in which we hope to provide our “middle schoolers” with :-

A deeper understanding of the Eucharist
-
A positive understanding of the Catholic Church, its teachings and beliefs;
-
An understanding that they are a vital part of the Parish community.
This is most probably one of the last chances that we may have to make a positive impact on our children’s development and parents of these “middle schoolers” are therefore encouraged to send their children to THE EDGE.

THE EDGE follows EDGE programme, which is the precursor to LIFETEEN on Fridays from 17h15 to 19h00. Meet at Blessed Sacrament parish Hall.
